    About the Exhibition
Journey of Growth offers a deeply personal narrative, where Weiling Pan uses oil pastels, charcoal, and digital techniques to weave together moments of memory and self-discovery. The exhibition features the Jenney’s Journey series, a story about a robotic character navigating a new planet, symbolizing resilience, exploration, and the courage to embrace the unknown.

Pan’s artwork draws inspiration from her rich heritage, blending Modern art influences from France and China into a style that is both unique and evocative. Her work invites viewers to reflect on their own identities and experiences while celebrating the universal themes of growth and connection.

    Artist Statement
“My art captures the fragments of life that shape who we are. Each piece is born from memories and emotions I can’t express in words. Through my characters and their stories, I celebrate individuality and the beauty of personal growth.”

Connection to Human Rights and the 2025 Conference
This exhibition is proudly presented by the Human Rights Institute (HRI) Gallery, part of Kean University’s Nancy Thompson Learning Commons. The gallery’s mission is to inspire action and awareness through art, aligned with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, particularly Article 27, which celebrates the right to participate in cultural life.

The exhibition complements the HRI’s annual Human Rights Conference, We Are the Future: How Gen Z is Changing the World, scheduled for March 21, 2025. Pan, a Gen Z artist, embraces her generation’s values of authenticity, creativity, and resilience, reflecting the conference’s themes.
