Professional Development Day

Professional development programs for school staff have the express purpose of facilitating the continuous growth of skills, knowledge, and practices of educators. The aim is to provide educators with the resources, tools, and strategies they need to enhance student learning outcomes, create a positive and inclusive school culture, and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in art education. These programs are essential for ensuring that educators are equipped to meet the diverse needs of their students and to effectively navigate the changing landscape of education.

Workshops

The Galleries at Kean offer teacher workshops annually that delve into a wide range of subjects, including topics such as identity, the connections between social-emotional learning and art, and the relevance of art in today's world. During the workshops, you will have the opportunity to explore the content and context of artworks through modeling and experience how interacting with art can support teaching and learning.

Creatives on the Rise

The Galleries at Kean aim to curate an engaging and inclusive platform for New Jersey Superintendents to celebrate the artistic talent and exploration of identity among students in grades 9-12. Through the Colleagues Art Night event and its related activities, participants can showcase their artistic expressions and engage in a collaborative dialogue around the theme of Art & Identity.

The competition is open to all high school students within our District. The winning artwork from our district will be displayed in the Liberty Hall Academic Center Gallery. 

Here's a brief overview of the competition rules:

Detailed guidelines will be provided, outlining artwork format, size, and presentation specifications. The number of entries will be capped to ensure a diverse representation of artistic styles and identities, with each piece acknowledged with appreciation.

Accepted art forms include:

Paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor)

Drawings (pastel, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, marker — charcoal and pastel pieces should be fixed)

All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and cannot violate U.S. copyright laws. Any work copied from another person's photo, image, painting, graphic, or advertisement will not be accepted. Submissions must be in their original medium and not reproductions of other works.

The competition's rules, checklist, and release form are expected to be posted on _______   no later than February 28th.

Exhibition Period

The artwork will be displayed from May 15, 2025 – June 20, 2025, providing students with a platform to showcase their creativity and talent. Superintendents, educators, families, school districts, and community members will be invited to view and engage with the exhibition.
