Spring Programs
Professional Development Day
Professional development programs for school staff have the express purpose of facilitating the continuous growth of skills, knowledge, and practices of educators. The aim is to provide educators with the resources, tools, and strategies they need to enhance student learning outcomes, create a positive and inclusive school culture, and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in art education. These programs are essential for ensuring that educators are equipped to meet the diverse needs of their students and to effectively navigate the changing landscape of education.
The Galleries at Kean offer teacher workshops annually that delve into a wide range of subjects, including topics such as identity, the connections between social-emotional learning and art, and the relevance of art in today's world. During the workshops, you will have the opportunity to explore the content and context of artworks through modeling and experience how interacting with art can support teaching and learning.
*Free to faculty, staff, and students if you use Kean credentials*

One Hour of Art Power
The "One Hour of Art Power" event is designed to create a space for meaningful dialogue between artists and students. Our goal is to highlight the power of art as a form of personal expression, resilience, and cultural storytelling. By featuring artists from different generations and backgrounds, we aim to emphasize the diversity of artistic voices and the shared experiences that connect us through creative practice.
Students will have the unique opportunity to engage with artists who approach their work from vastly different perspectives, yet are united by a shared commitment to art, strength, and storytelling. We hope this event will inspire emerging creatives, foster open discussion, and celebrate the impact of art across time and identity.
“Art in Action” (AIA) aims to provide a Saturday Visual Arts experience for children in grades 6 - 12, integrating creative expression with a focus on mental health awareness. The “Art In Action” program seeks a holistic approach to children's mental health through the visual arts. Students will be able to find a supportive community to lean on and have the opportunity to build and expand their portfolios
